Stock shortages throughout the industry
As a valued customer of Palmstead Nurseries Ltd, we wanted to explain the current trading conditions facing the horticulture sector.
Our aim has always been to provide an extensive range of quality plants to our customers. We work hard to supply your first-choice products or close substitutions, either from our own stock or from our trusted European partners.
In recent weeks, the wholesale horticultural industry has seen an unprecedented demand for plants which initially led to significant pressure on the supply chain, and now to shortages and price rises across our range.
We are increasing our future capacity but, unlike most other industries, horticulture cannot increase production to satisfy the demand in the short term. As a result, I regret that we foresee continued pressure throughout spring and summer 2021 on stock availability and prices for both homegrown and imported stock (where we can get it).
Our sales team will strive to provide you with the best service we can and to answer any questions you have, but we would recommend that you speak to us at the earliest opportunity about larger or important projects to avoid disappointment. We also recommend continuing to use our website for live stock availability and to secure your stock.
We will provide further updates as the season progresses. (13/04/2021)
