Our plants - your design

What our customers say about us

Acres Wild

'We have always been impressed by Geoff's efficient responses to our requests and excellent customer care.
Communication is very good regarding delivery dates and timings on the day of delivery.
Plant selection and quality is also very good, and orders are often 95-100% fulfilled which saves us time sourcing elsewhere.'

'Excellent customer service has almost become a thing of the past. We as customers have become accustomed to faceless, electronic “help”.
It always gives me hope when a company goes above and beyond the call of duty and provide excellent customer support
and I can safely say Palmstead meets that expectation with complete professionalism, expertise and excellent service.
Delivery drivers always call to let you know they are on the way and they are always polite, friendly and extremely helpful.
With so many plant varieties on the market having a professional sourcing and recommendation service ensures plants that are supplied by Palmstead
are sustainable and responsibly sourced taking the headache out of hours of searching along with being able to offer pretty much all plants requested
which saves the client the cost of multiple deliveries and the logistics of organising them. '

Featured garden:

Sevenoaks (Photo 1, 2) - This was a very large project, which included a new drive, pool house, paddle court, vegetable garden, children’s play area and over 350m² of terracing, each part of the garden required different forms of planting to enhance the key features.
Smarden (Photo 3, 4) - There was not a single plant in this garden and required bold planting around the main feature ponds to make it a garden, it took many different lines of plants to create a marriage of harmony and interest but less than a year later the results are outstanding with extremely happy clients.

Underriver (Photo 5, 6) - Mass planting project which took me to Italy through Palmstead to handpick some enormous feature specimens.

'We are very happy with the level of service we have been receiving from Palmstead sales team.
All our enquiries are dealt with very promptly in a very efficient way, the plants quality is excellent and the few times there was some concern about quality, it was rectified very quickly.
They have been very flexible as well at times when orders had to be changed at the last minute for various reasons due to the nature of the project.
Lastly we really value the fact that most of the plant stock is grown on UK ground and we were able to see for ourselves the care that goes into it when visiting the nursery. '

A contemporary garden in the heart of Dulwich Village designed for high profile clients who love to entertain. The garden had to include a teenage hangout, a small lawn, various seating areas and moods as well as feel private. They also wanted to have bees, birds and butterflies buzzing around. The giant firebowl creates a focal point at the end of the garden and is a nod to the owners love of camping.

'Palmstead Nurseries grow an enormous range of plants and when you send an enquiry it is returned quickly and almost always all lines are priced.
This is great but the reason we regularly buy from Palmstead is that they strike the perfect balance of a friendly and knowledgeable sales team
backed up with rigorous and innovative production, plant health, quality and despatch systems… in short they know the quality we require and ensure this is delivered efficiently.

Palmstead Nurseries have supplied plants for various trade stands that we have built at Chelsea Flower Show
over the years and the chance to meet the production team and work with Geoff to select plants is always fun.'

Featured gardens:

1. Large country family garden We designed and planted up a large family garden in Surrey with Palmstead plants. Due to the large scale of the project, the planting was phased into different zones and Palmstead were on board with the complexities of the project from the very start. Working with existing trees on the site, some areas of the garden were planted up with woodland plants, and other areas were more formal with terraced raised beds.

2. A plant-dominated front garden This garden is all about the plants, and Palmstead certainly helped us to achieve our vision! Hard landscaping is kept to a minimum and plants were selected for their interesting and contrasting foliage and forms.

3. Large suburban family garden We had some competition here between football-mad lads (large and small) and flower-loving mum – naturally we were keen to introduce as much new planting as possible but did leave a reasonable space for kicking a ball round (goal posts= fruit trees!). A blend of old and new was reflected in the planting to continue the family’s contemporary update of the Edwardian architecture.

'High quality plants and excellent communication has always been at the heart of Palmstead’s business and this has been evident throughout our dealings with them.
Flexibility and customer satisfaction are also obviously key to their service and this has been proved many times over.
Where we have had doubts or queries, they have always been resolved quickly and professionally.'

' We thoroughly enjoyed working with Palmstead from the initial engagement through to onsite delivery and even last minute sourcing of additional plants.
Natalie was so generous with her time on the nursery, she was very knowledgeable and was able to make some interesting suggestions to supplement our plant choices.
Good communication is paramount during any show garden build and Natalie was on hand to help with our requests and questions.
The plants were delivered efficiently, on schedule and in very good condition.'

The multiple locations across the Chelsea showground required varied planting schemes,
the most popular of which was a woodland border that was built upon a base palette of greens such as ferns, hostas, Epimedium, Muckdenia and Luzula –
all enlivened with colourful elements such as Trollius, Brunnera, Anemone and Pimpinella that gently flowed through the scheme. It had a lush yet relaxed feel.

'I regularly use Palmstead on project where I have a mixture of plants to deliver, from hedging to shrubs to perennials.
They are really well stocked and tend to offer something close to what you need or order it in.
Recently they have begun to offer specimens with photos or video of the exact plant you are buying which is really helpful. The quality ranges from good to excellent.'

'Palmstead are our first port of call, Geoff is brilliant, quick to respond, quotes are turned around quickly.
I also like to visit, walk round with Geoff to tag specimens.
Brilliant when you want 1 specimen or 50 of the same plant.. .'

Lulu Roper-Caldbeck Garden Designer

'I have always had an extremely positive experience when working with Palmstead.
Their customer service continues to be exceptional, with team members going above and beyond to assist with orders in a friendly and helpful manner,
as well as being patient and flexible with any alterations or amendments.
For this job in particular which was a 10 day installation, I needed assurance that all the plants would be looking their best on arrival which is why I chose Palmstead.
Natalie's attention to detail, and dedicated assistance meant both myself and the clients expectations were exceeded.
Another important reason for choosing Palmstead is their innovative attitude and desire to adapt to the changing industry,
and with most of their plants being grown on site working with them is not just a good option but a sustainable one too.'

Lulu

Featured garden:

This project was an installation situated in front of Westminster Cathedral, designed by Patternity and funded by London Design Festival.
It consisted of a giant three dimensional spiralling labyrinth formation, inviting visitors to sit, stay, contemplate and explore.
The central area of the labyrinth was used for talks and events throughout the 10 day festival and was completely surrounded by plants, enabling the visitor to feel utterly immersed in nature.
Prairie style planting was chosen with structural grasses and bold late season perennials, which became a beacon for bees and insects and created texture,
movement and the feeling of being somewhere else and away from the hustle and bustle of London life.

'I have worked with Palmstead for almost 15 years, for a long time with Nick Coslett and more recently with Geoff de la Cour-Baker who has taken up the baton.
Geoff works with me, finalising plant lists and sizes.
Palmstead supplied plants for my first show garden and they have been the supplier for my show gardens and projects for private clients ever since.
I have complete trust in Palmstead; the quality is always excellent and equally important for clients and contractors is delivery, on time and with drivers who are kind and helpful'

'Our experience with dealing with Palmstead has been excellent. Denise originally picked up my enquiry late in the day at peak time and worked tirelessly in producing various quotes.
It was never too much trouble in making changes and revisions to the orders. When photos were asked for, they were supplied efficiently and quickly.
The delivery was on time and the driver was very helpful with the unload. The plants exceeded both the clients and our expectations.
Having used various nurseries in the past and been slightly disappointed by service and quality we will always come to Palmstead first in the future.'

Rebecca Wallman Garden Design

'It is a daunting prospect sourcing plants for a show garden but I felt like I was in good hands with Palmstead. Natalie took lots of time to show me around the nursery to view plants on my list, as well as offering alternatives and new suggestions for things that would fit into my scheme. I felt like the staff were invested in getting the best plants for my garden. Everything was communicated promptly and clearly before show day, and Natalie was proactive in finding solutions to issues. The plants were excellent quality and looked absolutely stunning, drawing so many positive comments from visitors.'

'When I place an order with Palmstead I know that I am guaranteed to receive high quality plants at a reasonable price.
However, what really separates Palmstead from other nurseries is their customer service.
No matter who you are dealing with, every member of staff is incredibly helpful and willing to go that extra mile to make sure you are happy.
They are an essential element to my garden design practice.'
