Acanthus mollis (bear's breech) is a member of the Acanthaceae family. This perennial exhibits a columnar upright growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. When fully mature, Acanthus mollis can reach an ultimate height of 1–1.5 metres and a spread of 1–1.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, north–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and exposed, sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full shade, full sun, partial shade position.
