Hydrangea aspera 'Macrophylla' (large-leaved scabrous hydrangea) is a member of the Hydrangeaceae family. This deciduous shrubs exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H5 and no significant fragrance.

When fully mature, Hydrangea aspera 'Macrophylla' can reach an ultimate height of 1.5–2.5 metres and a spread of 1.5–2.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing,north–facing,west–facing,east–facing aspect and exposed,sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay,loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun,partial shade position.
