Product description & Growing guide

Hedera hibernica (Irish ivy) is a member of the Araliaceae family. This climber exhibits a climbing growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) and is hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.

When fully mature, Hedera hibernica can reach an ultimate height of 8–12 metres and a spread of 4–8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing or east–facing or north–facing or west–facing aspect and exposed or sheltered positions. It thrives best in chalk or clay or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full shade or full sun or partial shade.
