Kniphofia 'Sunningdale Yellow' (red-hot poker 'Sunningdale Yellow') is a member of the Asphodelaceae family. This perennial exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) and is hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.
When fully mature, Kniphofia 'Sunningdale Yellow' can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers east–facing or south–facing aspect and exposed positions. It thrives best in loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
