Pulmonaria 'Opal' (lungwort [Opal]) is a member of the Boraginaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its semi evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) – hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.
When fully mature, Pulmonaria 'Opal' can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers north–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam soil types and should be placed in a full shade, partial shade position.
