Tricyrtis 'Empress' (toad lily 'Empress') is a member of the Liliaceae family. This perennial exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. .

When fully mature, Tricyrtis 'Empress' can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers north–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure.
