Magnolia stellata (star magnolia) is a member of the Magnoliaceae family. This deciduous shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. When fully mature, Magnolia stellata can reach an ultimate height of 1.5–2.5 metres and a spread of 2.5–4 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
