Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower) is a member of the Asteraceae family. This perennials exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H5 and no significant fragrance.
When fully mature, Echinacea purpurea can reach an ultimate height of 1–1.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing,west–facing,east–facing aspect and exposed,sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk,loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun,partial shade position.
