Teucrium chamaedrys (wall germander) is a member of the Lamiaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.
When fully mature, Teucrium chamaedrys can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing or west–facing or east–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in chalk or sand or loam soil types and should be placed in full sun.
