Stipa tenuissima (Mexican feather grass) is a member of the Poaceae family. This grasses exhibits a tufted growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H4 and no significant fragrance.

When fully mature, Stipa tenuissima can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing,west–facing,east–facing,north–facing aspect and exposed,sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk,clay,loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
