When fully mature, Elaeagnus x submacrophylla can reach an ultimate height of 2.5–4 metres and a spread of 2.5–4 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing or south–facing or north–facing or east–facing aspect and exposed or sheltered positions.
