Osmunda regalis (royal fern) is a member of the Osmundaceae family. This ferns exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H6 and no significant fragrance.
When fully mature, Osmunda regalis can reach an ultimate height of 1.5–2.5 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing,west–facing,north–facing,east–facing aspect and exposed,sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk,clay,loam soil types and should be placed in a full shade,full sun,partial shade position.
