Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' (oregano 'Herrenhausen') is a member of the Lamiaceae family. This culinary herb exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. It features a foliage fragrance.
When fully mature, Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing aspect and exposed positions. It thrives best in chalk or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
