Akebia quinata (chocolate vine) is a member of the Lardizabalaceae family. This climbers exhibits a climbing growth habit and is characterized by its semi evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H6 and no significant fragrance.

When fully mature, Akebia quinata can reach an ultimate height of 8–12 metres and a spread of Wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing,north–facing,west–facing,east–facing aspect and exposed,sheltered exposure.
