Hedera helix (common ivy) is a member of the Araliaceae family. This climber exhibits a climbing growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage.
When fully mature, Hedera helix can reach an ultimate height of 8–12 metres and a spread of 2.5–4 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, north–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and exposed, sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full shade, full sun, partial shade position.
