Aralia elata (angelica tree) is a member of the Araliaceae family. This deciduous shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc), and is hardy through most of the uk even in severe winters. may not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk. .

When fully mature, Aralia elata can reach an ultimate height of 8–12 metres and a spread of Wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a partial shade position.
