Kniphofia 'Alcazar' (red-hot poker 'Alcazar') is a member of the Asphodelaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) and is hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.
When fully mature, Kniphofia 'Alcazar' can reach an ultimate height of 1–1.5 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing aspect and exposed positions. It thrives best in loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
