Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Rex' (Chinese rice-paper plant 'Rex') is a member of the Araliaceae family. This deciduous shrubs exhibits a columnar upright, bushy growth habit and is characterized by its semi evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H4 and no significant fragrance.

When fully mature, Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Rex' can reach an ultimate height of 4–8 metres and a spread of 4–8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing,south–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk,loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
