Halesia carolina (Carolina silverbell) is a member of the Styracaceae family. This deciduous shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc), and is hardy through most of the uk even in severe winters. may not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk. .

When fully mature, Halesia carolina can reach an ultimate height of 4–8 metres and a spread of Wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, west–facing, east–facing, north–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
