Helleborus x hybridus (hybrid Lenten rose) is a member of the Ranunculaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its semi evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of very hardy (colder than -20ºc), and is hardy in the severest european continental climates including exposed upland locations in the uk. .
When fully mature, Helleborus x hybridus can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing, east–facing, south–facing, north–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
