Carex elata 'Aurea' (Bowles's golden sedge) is a member of the Cyperaceae family. This grasse exhibits a tufted growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. .

When fully mature, Carex elata 'Aurea' can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and exposed, sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay, loam soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
