Tulbaghia violacea (society garlic) is a member of the Amaryllidaceae family. This bulbs exhibits a tufted growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H3 and features a flower fragrance.

When fully mature, Tulbaghia violacea can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers east–facing,south–facing,west–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
