Stewartia pseudocamellia (deciduous camellia) is a member of the Theaceae family. This deciduous shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) and is hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.

When fully mature, Stewartia pseudocamellia can reach an ultimate height of Higher than 12 metres and a spread of Wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers east–facing or south–facing or west–facing aspect and sheltered positions. It thrives best in clay or loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun or partial shade.
