Onoclea sensibilis (sensitive fern) is a member of the Onocleaceae family. This fern exhibits a suckering growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. For optimal growth, it prefers east–facing, south–facing, north–facing, west–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full shade, partial shade position.
