Washingtonia robusta (southern washingtonia) is a member of the Arecaceae family. This evergreen shrubs exhibits a columnar upright growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H1C and no significant fragrance.

When fully mature, Washingtonia robusta can reach an ultimate height of Higher than 12 metres and a spread of 2.5–4 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing,south–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in loam soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
