Tilia cordata (small-leaved lime) is a member of the Malvaceae family. This tree is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc), and is hardy throughout the uk and northern europe. many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection. .

When fully mature, Tilia cordata can reach an ultimate height of Over 12 metres and a spread of Wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, north–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
