Athyrium filix-femina (lady fern) is a member of the Woodsiaceae family. This ferns exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H6 and no significant fragrance.

When fully mature, Athyrium filix-femina can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers north–facing,east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in clay,loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full shade,partial shade position.
