Matteuccia struthiopteris (shuttlecock fern) is a member of the Onocleaceae family. This ferns exhibits a suckering growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H5 and no significant fragrance.
When fully mature, Matteuccia struthiopteris can reach an ultimate height of 1–1.5 metres and a spread of 1.5–2.5 metres.
