Ilex crenata (Japanese holly) is a member of the Aquifoliaceae family. This evergreen shrub exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. When fully mature, Ilex crenata can reach an ultimate height of 4–8 metres and a spread of 1–1.5 metres. It thrives best in chalk, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
