Ilex aquifolium (common holly) is a member of the Aquifoliaceae family. This evergreen shrubs exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of H6 and no significant fragrance.
When fully mature, Ilex aquifolium can reach an ultimate height of Over 12 metres and a spread of 4–8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing,east–facing,west–facing aspect and exposed,sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk,clay,loam,sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun,partial shade position.
